Space between 1st and 2nd shots of vaccine extended; priority give to people with Downs’ Syndrome

In a bid to protect as many vulnerable people as quickly possible, Portuguese health authorities have agreed to extend the time given between first and second doses of the Pfizer/ Moderna and AztraZeneca vaccines from 21 to 28 days. The new policy will protect an extra 100,000 people. Also decided has been to prioritize vaccinations for people with Downs Syndrome. This involves an addition of roughly 3,500 people to the current Phase One (running into April).
