South Africa “wants Portugal’s tech to help solve energy crisis”

South Africa’s electricity minister, Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, has told Lusa that Pretoria would like to use cutting-edge Portuguese technology to solve the country’s energy crisis, particularly where it comes to decarbonising energy. “I think we have a lot to learn from Portugal in the context of solving our electricity challenges, and also in the decarbonisation part, Portugal has shown itself to be one of the leading countries in relation to renewables,” he said, from the office of South African president Cyril Ramaphosa following a meeting with Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, and his Portuguese delegation, visiting South Africa in the context of Portugal Day commemorations.
