Portugal’s famous soul singer Áurea has been confirmed as the headlining act at Quarteira’s New Year Party.
The night will begin with Deejay Rodriguez taking the stage at Praça do Mar at 9.30pm to warm up the crowd before Áurea’s performance.
She has become one of the country’s most recognisable voices. Her career started in 2010 with the launch of hit single ‘Busy for Me’ which helped popularise her special blend of pop and soul music.
Throughout the years, the 32-year-old singer has won several accolades and performed all over the world. Áurea’s first self-titled album was released in Spain, Poland, Italy, Hong Kong and Taiwan and achieved impressive sales.
She recently released her fourth album ‘Confissões’ (Confessions) and has become one of the four coaches of The Voice Portugal which airs every Sunday on RTP.
Áurea also performed at the 2017/2018 New Year Party in Porto which was attended by around 200,000 people and was believed to be the biggest ever in Portugal.
Her concert in Quarteira will begin at 10.30pm and continue until midnight, when a musical fireworks display is expected to light the town’s skies.
Festivities will continue at 12.15am with a performance by RIOT, a well-known musician, DJ and producer and a founding member of popular Portuguese act Buraka Som Sistema.
His musical sets are always eclectic and can span several genres including afro-house, hip-hop, kuduro and drum and bass.
Quarteira has gained a reputation as one of the best places in the Algarve to celebrate the arrival of the New Year and attracts thousands of revellers every year. Admission to all concerts and festivities are free.
