PORTUGAL’S ECONOMY minister, Manuel Pinho, has sent a letter to the President of the EU council and the EU commissioner for energy to ask for an urgent meeting to discuss ways of minimising the negative effects of the rising cost of petrol.
In the letter, Manuel Pinho wrote that the increasing price is having a negative impact on the economy and a worrying effect on economic growth as well as on the spending power of families and companies.
Portugal’s prime minister José Socrates said that the country is going through “a difficult moment.”
