Animal charity SOS Algarve Animals has launched an Online Valentine’s Day Auction in a bid to raise “much-needed funds” to carry out animal sterilisations in the Algarve.
The auction will end on February 14 at 7pm and includes over 60 items or experiences to bid on, including “horse riding for two; a family photo shoot including a pet; a dinner on the beach; a kite surfing lesson; a dog training lesson; buggy tours; pet sitting; vaccinations for dogs and cats; original paintings by well-known artists; a massage; a manicure/pedicure; cat sterilisation; a Greek dinner; several lunch/dinner vouchers; gardening services; and a full English breakfast”.
“We are absolutely overwhelmed by the wonderful support of local businesses,” says the association, which is in serious need of help to continue carrying out sterilisations.
In January alone, the association issued authorisations for 100 sterilisations (69 cats and 31 dogs) in Benafim, Salir, Querença, Loulé, São Bartolomeu de Messines, Faro, São Brás de Alportel, Almancil, Quarteira, Alcantarilha, Foral and Vale Judeu.
“To be able to keep up with all the requests, we need to raise funds and the Online Valentine’s Day Auction is one of the activities we are planning for this year,” explains SOS Algarve Animals.
“Please join us, support us, make a cheeky bid and help us in our quest to reduce the number of unwanted animals by sterilisation,” it adds.
