Something for everyone at BLiP

This year’s Better Living in Portugal (BLiP) exhibition will be held earlier than usual.

The free exhibition, which will run on September 26 and 27 and is in its seventh year, is organised by Exiberia on behalf of afpop, Portugal’s largest association for foreign residents.

As in previous years, it will take place at the ExpoArade exhibition centre in Portimão.

afpop CEO Michael Reeve told the Algarve Resident: “What we aim to do at BLiP is provide a fun and vibrant environment in which visitors can discover the products and services that help to improve their life here.”

He added that BLiP is also a way for the expatriate community to show the Portuguese people, for example the civil governor and council officials, the contribution that their businesses are making to the Algarve.

The exhibition is also an aid to Portuguese businesses who would like to introduce themselves to the expatriate market and the number of Portuguese-owned companies exhibiting at BLiP has increased each year.

Traditionally, BLiP has been held in October but this year elections are being held that month in Portugal plus the World Superbike Championship is scheduled for Portimão, so organisers brought the event forward to ensure that people in the Algarve would have the opportunity to enjoy all these events.

Whether you are a regular visitor to BLiP or will be making your first trip to the exhibition, there is sure to be plenty of new and exciting displays. “We are looking to utilise the space on the first floor balcony again this year, but not for stands as we have done in the past. We are planning to make these areas above the exhibition interactive and fun,” said Michael Reeve.

He added that the beauty of the exhibition is that there is always a mix of larger and smaller companies with a huge range of products on display, which is ideal for the broad cross section of people who represent foreign residents in Portugal.

As well as the companies, visitors also have the chance to speak to and meet members of afpop and learn more about the association’s services.

“We enjoy the opportunity to speak to our members at the event, many of whom became members at previous BLiPs and who take the opportunity to come and renew their membership and say hello to the staff and council members over the weekend,” said Michael Reeve.
