SINTRA Câmara has given financial support to various institutions of social solidarity. The Work of Immaculate Conception, an institution that houses around 50 female children who are deprived of a normal family life, has received 6,250 euros from the câmara.
Other beneficiaries include the Casa de Sant’Ana, a temporary facility for 16 young women, and the Instituto São João de Deus, which lends support to immigrants and ethnic minorities – both institutions will receive 4,000 euros each. The Mira Sintra Centro de Educação Para o Deficiente (Education Centre for the Disabled) will receive 10,000 euros and the Centro de Educação e Reabilitação de Deficientes de Todo o País (Education and Rehabilitation Centre for the Disabled throughout the country) will receive 6,956 euros – both organisations aim to support people with mental and physical disabilities.
Another 6,250 euros will go to the Casa de Saúde de Santa Rosa de Lima, an institution that aims to promote mental health among older women.
