THE PRESIDENT of the Republic, Cavaco Silva, has praised Prime Minister José Sócrates and Foreign Minister Luís Amado for the government’s performance in chairing the rotating Presidency of the European Union in 2007.
Cavaco Silva said he hoped the government would “use its undeniable success over the past six months to December as a tonic for eventual difficulties in 2008.”
