Sócrates || 11th hour hitch in Sócrates’ appeal

As the clock moved ever nearer to the witching hour of 4pm, José Sócrates’ unconventional lawyer João Araújo has announced that he won’t be pushing ahead with what he termed “the famous appeal” against his client’s detention in preventive custody after all. Although this was billed to go ahead later this afternoon, Araújo announced shortly after 1pm today that he needs to talk some more with his client “senhor engenheiro” before lodging the appeal that will go first to Lisbon’s central court of criminal instruction (TCIC) before passing on to the appeals court.
Elaborating on the conversation that he needed to have with his client, Araújo alluded to “some questions” that needed clarification.
