Alcoutim Câmara has called on the government to re-open the Social Security office in the parish of Martim Longo.
The câmara said in a statement to the press that cutbacks to public services should not be made at the expense of the most vulnerable in society.
The Social Security office was described as “extremely important” for the impoverished and elderly residents of Martim Longo and Vaqueiros as it provided a “proximity service”.
