More than 90,000 Social Security debtors were notified in December by the government.
The economic crisis is being blamed by the government for the delay in the Social Security payments, contributions which amount to a debt believed to total 400 million euros.
According to government figures, between 2005 and 2008, Social Security debt escalated from 129 million euros to 367 million euros, representing an increase of 185 per cent.
