This year’s Christmas decorations and entertainment programme in Vila Real de Santo António (VRSA) are due to include artificial snow as well as an outdoor ice skating rink, which will open today (Friday).
The rink will be 10 metres long and 20 metres wide and located in the centre of Praça Marquês de Pombal, near a Christmas tree that was the largest in the region in 2008.
As well as the ice rink, which will be open to the public throughout December, there will also be a Christmas fair, bouncy castles and a children’s train that will travel through the main streets of VRSA.
The festivities are due to start at 6.30pm today with the switching-on of the Christmas lights and the arrival of Santa Claus.
A nativity scene measuring 120sqm, with around 3,000 figurines, which last year received 50,000 visitors, is also due to be inaugurated on December 6.
