The booksigning event held at the Griffin Bookshop on Tuesday, November 2 for Sylvia Loch, author of the blockbuster novel, AN ALGARVE AFFAIR, was a big success with a large audience fascinated by Sylvia’s tales of Algarve society during the 60s and 70s.

New out this month as a treat for thriller-lovers are Tom Clancy’s latest, Dead or Alive, David Baldacci’s Hell’s Corner (both in hardcover) and Other Family by Joanna Trollope in paperback.

Great gifts for children are the hugely talented Philip Pullman’s (Northern Lights trilogy) FOUR TALES illustrated hardback which contains The Firework-Maker’s Daughter, The Scarlet Slippers, All Wound Up and The Scarecrow and his Servant.  A lovely gift for readers aged 8-11 years.

For a bit of peace on Christmas Day, put an Usborne 1000 Christmas Stickers book in their stockings – age 3-6 year-olds will be thrilled – or they can use them before Christmas to make their own cards or decorations.  For older children, the ever-popular Jacqueline Wilson’s newest book is The Longest Whale Song and thrills and spills abound from Robert Muchamore in his latest in the Cherub series, Shadow Wave – both suitable for ages 10-13.
