Smooth Algarve sounds

Noted contemporary jazz vocalist Jane Monheit will be performing at the Vilamoura Casino on October 30 from 9.30pm.

The American artist, who has collaborated with Michael Bublé and Ivan Lins, began singing professionally at school where she then went on to attend the Manhattan School of Music.

In 1998, at the age of only 20, Jane Monheit was thrust into the international musical limelight when she came second in the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition which was judged by a jury including Dee Dee Bridgewater, Diana Krall, Dianne Reeves and other jazz giants.

Her first album Never Never Land remained in the Billboard Jazz Chart for almost a year while her latest album The Lovers, The Dreamers and Me has received critical acclaim.

Jane Monheit has performed at most of the major music halls, cabarets and jazz venues around the globe and has released a total of seven albums and two DVDs.
