Smoking reduction

Smokers have cut back on the number of cigarettes smoked per day since the introduction of smoking bans on January 1, 2008 according to the Director General of Health, Francisco George.

Statistics have revealed that, on average, smokers have reduced their daily intake by nine cigarettes since the ban came into force; this is the equivalent of a five per cent cut in smoking.

Francisco George was speaking in commemoration of World Health Day on April 7 and used the opportunity to highlight the health risks associated with smoking
