Economist Francisco Nabo, former head of both Galp and PT has nine golden rules for SMEs keen to internationalise their businesses. The rules, he told the Novas Latitudes conference at Lisbon’s Museu do Oriente, are: take advantage of opportunities, innovate, know your competition, analyse risks, know your territory, study the market, always have a Plan B, know your business potential and never close a deal on a handshake (get things in writing).
