A Smart car had to be fished out of the Tejo River in the early hours of Sunday morning after its owner left it ostensibly parked at Padrão dos Descobrimentos, Belém.
The car – which had no occupants – was winched out of the waters after rescue divers managed to locate it.
It was successfully returned to dry land by 3am, though in what condition no-one has reported.
