Portugal’s Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho said he was concerned that exports had dropped in December, which could mean a downward review of the GDP growth figures for this year if the trend continued. The national statistics institute INE said last week that exports rose 5.8% in 2012, with some months actually seeing increases of more than 10% in comparison to the previous year. However, December saw a 3.2% decrease in exports, after a 0.1% decline in the previous month.
