A 22-YEAR-old rapist was driven to the nearest police station in New Zealand after he fell asleep in the back of his car following the assault.
Vipul Sharma met his victim at an Auckland bar in 2006 and later drove her to a park where he raped her in the back seat of his car.
After the attack, Sharma allowed the woman to drive and fell asleep in the passenger seat, so the victim drove him to Auckland Central police station where he was arrested.
Vipul Sharma was recently found guilty of abduction and two charges of rape by the Auckland District Court.
Police detective Simon Welsh said: “She showed a lot of bravery and common sense. I have nothing but respect for what she has endured.”
