THE HEAD of Portugal’s Order of Lawyers has made a controversial visit to a Nazi-sympathetic skinhead in a Lisbon prison.
Bastonário António Marinho e Pinto visited Mário Machado who has been in PJ detention in a Lisbon prison for a year. After the visit, the lawyer said there were “no grounds” to keep the ultra right-wing leader in police custody.
Awaiting trial, Mário Machado stands accused of racial discrimination, criminal damage and damage and offences to physical integrity. He was detained with other skinheads after PJ units found illegal arms and Nazi propaganda.
