Skin cancer campaign

A walk organised by the Algarve Oncology Association (AOA) to raise awareness about skin cancer is to be held on May 28, starting at 6.30pm from Jardim Manuel Bívar in Faro.

The campaign this year, called Marcha Pôr do Sol (sunset walk), follows 2010’s Verão sem Escaldão (summer without sunburn) campaign in Albufeira council and 2009’s initiative against skin cancer on 13 Algarve beaches.

The event also aims to raise funds to support cancer patients of Faro’s Casa Flor das Dunas.

Registration for the event is open until May 25 at the AOA Headquarters in Largo das Mouras Velhas in Faro and costs €5 per person, which includes a t-shirt, water and promotional items.

Late registrations will be available on the day of the walk at the venue from 4pm.

AOA advises participants to arrive in plenty of time to consult the programme and to do warm up exercises before the walk starts.
