Ski bug grips Lisbon

EXPONEVE, LISBON’S first fair dedicated to snow sports was held recently at FIL in Alcântara.

The three-day event was the first ever in Portugal solely dedicated to skiing, snowboarding and snow tourism. “Over the past 10 years, snow sports have shot up by 100 per cent in Portugal,” said Patrícia Oliveira, head of the event’s public relations team. One of the main attractions at Exponeve was a 40sqm artificial ski slope, which children could use for free either on skis or a snowboard. For safety reasons, qualified instructors and a medical team were on hand. According to organisers, 10,000 people passed through the turnstiles of Exponeve.
