Sixth Iberian sports meeting takes place on Ilha de Tavira

THE IBERIAN Peninsula’s largest recreational sports event, Encontro Ibérico de Desporto (END), now in its sixth year, will be taking place between April 12 and 15 on Ilha de Tavira, providing non-stop activities, 24 hours a day.

The END programme includes various tournaments such as beach football, beach voleyball, beach rugby, beach tennis, among others. Water sports include surfing, bodyboarding, windsurfing, sailing, diving, kitesurfing and canoeing around the Ria Formosa. Other activities include paintball, frisbee and triathon.

During the day, participants can take part in a range of 25 different sports as well as workshops and master classes. At night, there will be entertainment provided in a giant tent, especially mounted for the event.

A total of 1,800 people took part in 2005, but this year the response has been even greater. The event’s organisers are delighted to report that 2,500 participants have registered for 2006, making it the best event so far.
