Six Algarve festivals – MED, F, In Lagos, Ria Fest, Didgeridoo and Jota – have been nominated for this year’s Portugal Festival Awards, which will take place on November 17 at Cinema São Jorge in Lisbon.
The Algarve events are aiming for three categories – ‘Best Urban Festival’ (Loulé’s MED Festival and Festival F in Faro), ‘Best Small Festival’ (In Lagos) and ‘Best Micro Festival’ (Faro’s Ria Fest, the Didgeridoo Festival in Estômbar, and Festival Jota which this year was held in Faro).
Other categories include ‘Best Big-Sized Festival’, ‘Best Medium-Sized Festival’, ‘Best Non-Urban Festival’, ‘Best University Festival’, ‘Best WC’s’, ‘Best Camping Grounds’ as well as three awards for the best live performances of the year.
The Portugal Festival Awards will be held for the third time. They aim to “acknowledge the effort involved in organising music festivals, and award those who stood out the most in a variety of categories”.
