Samuel Caldeira dominated last weekend’s Grand Premio Credito Agricola/Costa Azul to take the important domestic cycle race ten seconds clear of his nearest rivals for the Palmeiras Resort-Prio team. The victory was somewhat tainted though as the Algarveans revealed that their star rider and three-time Tour of Portugal winner David Blanco is to leave at the end of this year. The Spaniard will join Carlos Sastre and Denis Menchov at the new Pro Tour Geox team in order to fulfill his dream of taking part in the sport’s blue riband event, the Tour de France.
