THREE SCHOOLS and the Hotel Le Meridien Penina in Alvor took part in earthquake and fire simulation exercises last Friday.
Organised by Portimão Câmara, the aim of these exercises was to contribute towards greater safety in schools should there be an earthquake.
As well as developing procedures and co-ordination plans to be followed, the efficiency of existing emergency plans was also tested, as well as the capacity and skills of civil protection personnel.
