There were celebrations at Vale do Lobo this week as the resort was voted the best luxury development in the world, beating entries from top resorts in America, Spain, Portugal, Italy, France and Cyprus to win the coveted Best Luxury Development Award at the 2004 Homes Overseas Awards Ceremony in London last week.
The awards were sponsored by British Airways and the Daily Telegraph newspaper, and were organised by the publishers of Homes Overseas magazine. Over 100 entries were considered by a panel of 31 judges, including top property journalists, respected architects, surveyors and technical experts who travelled all over the world to visit each entry. The ceremony, which was attended by over 500 industry figures and international media, was held at London’s Dorchester Hotel, with the awards being presented by England rugby star, Jason Leonard, fresh from Rugby World Cup glory.
A spokesman from Vale do Lobo told us: “Winning these two prestigious awards is a fantastic achievement and assures a great promotion for Portugal and the Algarve, as well as for the Vale do Lobo resort.” The resort also beat several national finalists within Portugal to win the Best Portuguese Villa category.
