One of the Algarve’s most popular summer events, the Silves Medieval Fair, will be taking place between August 7 and 16. Expecting to attract thousands of people, the fair takes the town back to the days when it was the ‘capital of the Al-Gharb’, during the time when the Kingdom of the Algarve was ruled by Arabs.
Merchants and craftsmen line the town’s streets, selling a variety of Arab-influenced goods, while street performers provide musical performances, poetry readings and reenactments of medieval battles.
The event, in its 12th year, has become one of the heavyweights of the region’s summer calendar.
Daily tickets cost €2, while a bracelet giving full access can be purchased for €3 (if bought up to August 6) or €4 (after).
The bracelet can be purchased at council offices and local shops, while the daily tickets are being sold at ticketline.pt, Worten, Fnac and other outlets (click here http://www.cm-silves.pt/portal_autarquico/silves/v_pt-PT/menu_turista/concelho/XII+Feira+Medieval/Entradas+na+Feira/).
