MORE THAN 200 protestors came together outside the Silves Health Centre on January 24 to protest against the closure of the Serviço de Atendimento Permanente (SAP).
Members from the Partido Comunista de Silves (PCP) spoke to those gathered of the indignation they felt towards the decision to close the SAP.
Many patients will now have to go to the Misericórdia hospital in Portimão to receive treatment, a move the PCP see as “a form of privatisation intended to make us pay more”.
Following the speeches, a procession of cars fitted with public address systems and flags drove through Silves town centre asking passers by to join their protest.
