A JOINT general proposal made by Silves and six other councils in Portugal for the Polis XXI sustainable energy and construction project has won approval for government financing.
The project, entitled Ecos – Energia e Construção Sustentáveis (Ecos – sustainable energy and construction), is a joint effort between Moura, Beja, Serpa, Óbidos, Peniche and Torres Vedras councils.
Identifying and promoting projects which contribute to “energy efficiency and environmental and economic sustainability” is the objective of the joint candidature, said José Maria Pós-de-Mina, President of Moura Câmara, which is coordinating the joint candidature.
This general proposal for the Polis XXI was one of five that were approved by the Direcção-Geral do Ordenamento do Território e Desenvolvimento Urbano, the general management of territory and urban development. Now specific projects for each council will have to be prepared for investment to be approved.
