Silves Câmara will be inaugurating an ethnographic museum in S.B. Messines on September 2.
The Museu do Traje e das Tradições, located in a typical Algarvian house at the entrance to the village, will be showcasing traditional items from the late 19th century and early 20th century. The architectural project, which involved the complete restoration of the house and its three chimneys, one of them dating back to 1887, was carried out by Silves Câmara architect Carla Alfarrobinha.
The museum will serve as a reminder of days gone by with traditions such as folk dancing and handicraft highlighted.
