Silves firefighters receive donation

HAVING seen, first-hand, the determination of the Silves voluntary bombeiros to fight the fires of summer 2003 with such limited resources, Ray Bentley welcomed the opportunity of fundraising. His London Masonic Lodge, Saint Augustine, has already donated 2,100 euros to the charity and Comandante Abel Gomes has requested that the money be spent on the purchase of eight double shielded helmets to improve the personal protection equipment for his firefighters. Since then, Ray has joined Angela Schulz Henke in running the fundraising activities. Their next event will be a dinner at the Clube de Ténis in Carvoeiro on Saturday, April 16.
