Silves Council has purchased a new €181,000 fire truck for the Silves Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters (AHBVS) in celebration of its 96th anniversary.
The vehicle was gifted to the firefighting force on Sunday, May 15 at the firefighters’ headquarters.
“Firefighters are the most important protection and rescue organisation in the country and have a central role in the Civil Protection System,” said Silves Mayor Rosa Palma, adding that she hopes the new vehicle will make firefighting in Silves even “safer and more efficient”.
