More than 4,200 Euros was raised during a charity golf day held at the Pestana Silves golf course on July 26.
In total, 25 teams from across the Algarve and from as far afield as Benamor Golf in the east to Parque da Floresta in the west took part in the charity tournament organised by Silves Golf club captain George Cook to raise money for the Silves course green keeper who lost her partner after the birth of their first baby in April.
Winners on the day were Jeff Young, Mark Ellerton, Alan Willis and David Brewster with 94 points.
Andrew Fielder, Mick Girling, Brian Randall and Brian Holman finished in second place with 91 points followed by John Bullock, Alan Wilkin, Tom Atkins and Pala Luijt with 89 points.
Organisers of the event would like to thank all the sponsors, those who gave cash donations and Pestana for providing the use of the course for the day.
