To coincide with Silves council’s Municipal Day On September 3, a month long programme of entertainment has been announced.
From August 29 to October 4, the council is hosting a series of sporting, cultural and recreational events including a book fair at the Silves Municipal Library (running until September 12) and a jazz and cinema festival from September 5 to October 4 (location to be announced).
While in Silves, don’t miss the Handicraft Days event (Dias de Artesanato) starting tomorrow until September 4, at the castle. There will be workshops on how to make artificial flowers, modelling clay and making toys out of cane, and there will be other activities.
The nearby parish of São Bartolomeu de Messines is organising a night walk, ‘Route of the Menhirs’, starting from Casa Museu João de Deus on September 2 at 9pm.
On Saturday, September 8 at 4pm, a photographic exhibition showcasing landscapes of São Bartolomeu de Messines is being inaugurated at the Sociedade de Instrução e Recreio Messinense.
In Alcantarilha, the Dried Fruit Fair (Feira dos Frutos Secos) is returning to the locality for the 11th year. The event starts today (Friday) and runs until Sunday at the Junta square. Stalls selling handicraft and sweet and savoury foods will also be available.
