Significant delays in TAP flights expected during NATO’s Trident Juncture military ops

Trouble-torn airline TAP has announced that airline traffic faces the possibility of “significant” delays in and out of Portugal during the next two weeks due to NATO military exercises, under Trident Juncture 2015 – the largest combined operation to have been mounted since the Cold War.

Trident Juncture 2015 – going ahead simultaneously in Portugal, Spain and Italy – will affect three time periods during the day, and all national airports.

A source told SIC television news that the airline will do everything it can to minimise the effects on flights “where possible”.

Online boarding should alert passengers to any changes in their schedules.

Meantime, Trident will be making itself felt in 16 locations around Portugal, Spain and Italy – with most operations going ahead on Spanish territory, reports SIC. Here, the military’s “greatest visibility” will be in the areas of Beja, Santa Margarida, Troia and Setúbal.
