SIC and TVI “lose €35 million”

The heady days when national television stations were inundated with calls and messages, generating hundreds of thousands of euros in income, appear to be over, with both SIC and TVI posting major losses, reports Correio da Manhã.

According to the news service that now competes with the channels with its own CMTV, SIC and TVI lost a total of €34.7 million between the years of 2013 and 2015 – all of it connected to the falling popularity of telephone competitions, which at their peak brought as much as €78 million pouring in (€32 for SIC and €46 for TVI), with telespectators spending as much as €6.5 million per month.

These days, that number has more than halved, CM explains.
