Lagoa Badminton star Pedro Martins excelled himself in reaching the semi-finals of the Dominican Republic Open in Santo Domingo before being narrowly beaten 21-17, 21-19 by Kevin Gordon.
A similar fate befell fellow Portuguese international Telma Santos, who was prevented from reaching the final of the ladies event by Anna Rice.
