Show-reels sample stage production

Two promotional YouTube videos give a taster of “The Passionate Pilgrim” to be staged as live performances in Alcantarilha and São Brás Museum this month. Telling a comic story, the play is based on the Portuguese Queen Philippa of Lancaster and her son Prince Henry the Navigator.

The first short video uses a drone to picture the pilgrim’s journey from Lisbon to Santiago de Compostela.

The second video – filmed on stage – shows off the 11 actors, their talents, the beautiful set and costumes.

Both have been created by Algarve film-maker Miguel Cosme of SkyeVision.

The play is written entirely in rhyme by Carolyn Kain and presents an earthly vision of Heaven and Hell as seen through the eyes of the medieval church. It is described as “exceedingly entertaining, funny and informative”.

Tickets at €10 should be booked in advance.

Performances will be held first at the Feedback Café in Alcantarilha on April 21 and 22, with the show starting at 9pm. Optional dinner from 7pm. 964 078 191 (dinner) / 289 432 425 (show).

Later on April 29 and 30, the show will be at São Brás Museum at 7.30pm. 966 329 073
