• Japan set a new record for medals won in the judo tournament. Keiji Suzuki remained undefeated in the top weight division as he added a further gold to his country’s total of eight wins and two second places.

• South Korea was invincible in the women’s archery contests, gaining their 11th straight gold medal. Korea’s women have won every individual and team gold they have contested since first competing in 1984.
