Short-term rentals in Lisbon have an occupancy rate between 80% and 90% for the week of World Youth Day (WYD), “identical to the same week of 2022”, Eduardo Miranda, president of short-term rental association ALEP has stressed. “Events like this are important for Portugal’s exposure. They attract the destination for the future,” and the “positive effects may be felt in the long run”, but the “spirit of the event” itself, with people staying in schools and other institutions, “is not a short-term business opportunity” he told Lusa.
