Short film promoting Algarve tourism wins international prize

A short film launched last year by the Algarve tourism board (RTA) was awarded a Gold Star in The Golden City Gate, an international film-print-multimedia competition held in Germany.

The film, entitled ‘O Algarve fica-te bem’ (The Algarve looks good on you), won in the category “Tourism Destinations – Regions”.

The event – held at the same time as the ITB Berlin tourism fair, which this year took place virtually – aims to celebrate the best promotional films in the tourism industry.

The Algarve’s film was singled out as the best in the world in its category and was created to woo tourists back to the region, which has been hit hard by the effects of the pandemic.

The short film features couple Raquel and Miguel, known on Instagram as ‘Explorerssaurus’, one of the most successful influencers in the business, as they enjoy a trip to the Algarve.

Algarve tourism boss João Fernandes is delighted about the distinction, which he says is all the more special for giving international credibility to the work that has been done to promote the region after “everything that has happened in the last year”.

“Very soon we will be able to discover just how good the Algarve really ‘looks on us’ and how we can enjoy everything our tourism sector has to offer. This award strengthens the message that the region is ready to welcome tourists safely,” he said.
