Shoppers at Atlantic Park in Vila Nova de Famalicão had the fright of their lives on Sunday morning when two armed men staged a dramatic ATM heist with apparent impunity. They entered the retail park’s Belita supermarket “when the space was full of people”, pointed their guns at a security guard preparing to fill an ATM machine, punched him and then made off with two bags thought to hold more than €30,000 in notes. A getaway car with French plates, driven by a third man, was waiting outside – and although some people reportedly set off in pursuit of the robbers, the men escaped easily. Say reports, PJ police are now investigating.
