British family-owned business ShoeWorld (Mundo do Sapato) has closed down all stores it had operating in the Algarve. Twenty employees are said to have lost their jobs.
Shoeworld currently had stores in Lagos, Portimão, Lagoa and Carvoeiro. It also previously had stores in Albufeira and Almancil.
One of the employees, who did not wish to be named, told the Algarve Resident that she and other colleagues had been with the company for 14 years since Shoeworld opened in Lagoa.
The Algarve Resident tried to obtain a comment from the company but was unable to do so at the time of going to press.
