THE INTERNATIONAL School of the Algarve is helping underprivileged children all over the world by, once again, taking part in the Shoebox Appeal.
Organised by registered charity, Samaritan’s Purse, founded in 1993, the appeal has sent over 40 million shoeboxes filled with Christmas presents to children around the world living in the most appalling conditions, who may never have received a gift before.
Empty shoeboxes were delivered to the school by Shoeworld in Lagoa. The pupils covered the boxes with Christmas paper and then filled them with small presents.
At the end of October, a special assembly was held at the school when the charity’s Algarve representative, Gill Rhodes, accepted the 140 filled shoeboxes from pupils.
