Christmas may still seem a long way off but this year is the 20th anniversary of the Shoe Box Appealand residents in the Algarve are being asked to put together their boxes for disadvantaged children now.
The Shoe Box Appeal is a project run by UK based registered charity Samaritan’s Purse. Volunteers are asked to fill a shoe box with gifts for a child which will then be sent to countries in Eastern Europe, Africa and Asia.
Each shoe box needs to be aimed at a boy or a girl of a specific age and a donation of three Euros per box needs to be made to Samaritan’s Purse to pay for the distribution.
All the boxes need to be ready to be sent to the UK by the end of October and completed boxes can be handed in at the reception desks of the Bombeiros in Lagos, Portimão, Lagoa and Albufeira.
Organisers of the campaign would like to thank DLS Couriers who have offered to transport the packed boxes back to the UK free of charge and also to Constantino Jordan Property and Tourism Investment Advisory for the very generous donation.
