Shoe addicts compete in stiletto race

There was one rule for the National Stiletto Championship and that was to wear heels at least three inches high and the prize – boxes of shoes.

Almost 100 fashion mad French women competed in the National Stiletto Championship on November 20 at an indoor track in the Old Stock Exchange building in Paris which was decorated pink for the occasion.

Competing in teams of three, they had to cover 60 metres each in a 180-metre relay race with the hope of winning the prize of 3,000 euros worth of shoes.

The 96 finalists beat over 300 women in regional races all over France to take part in the final race.

They were cheered on by a crowd of 500 supporters, while volunteers from the Red Cross were on standby in case of any twisted ankles.
