Shock in Lagoa as earthmovers destroy wetland, in spite of all attempts to save it

The new era of moving forwards, no matter what, has been witnessed this week in Lagoa where earthmoving machines have essentially destroyed all trace of the wetland area that attracted nature enthusiasts from many parts of the world. Heartbroken messages over social media today describe the arrival of two Americans who had travelled over to see Alagoas Brancas, but instead witnessed its destruction. PAN – the tiny environmental party in parliament – only recently intimated it would be lodging an embargo to stop this work. Technically, that should have brought a stay of execution, pending a judge’s decision. Now however there is nothing to save. Developers have also disregarded studies that show any building on this site could end up with the land collapsing.
