Shipwreck in Aljezur to be “dismantled and removed in pieces”

Avô Melro, the fishing boat wrecked near Aljezur’s Arrifana beach last week, is going to be “dismantled and removed in pieces” as the sea has washed it too far onto rocks to allow for its safe removal. Work could take “several months” and will be dependent on sea conditions. Authorities say the priority is to recover 5,000 litres of petrol and oil that are still inside the vessel.
