Sheep help in production of Douro wine

A flock of sheep are doing their bit to sustain the production of Douro wine. SIC Notícias reports how in grazing on weeds around the vines in the winter (when the vines are resting), the sheep are actually stimulating the natural renewal of plants which themselves feed both the biodiversity of the soil, and help retain water. It is a ‘return to practices of the past’, says the media outlet, when wine was produced organically.
